The OV-Chipkaart is the traveling product of the future used today. The Dutch railway company NS wanted a way to communicate the possibilities and benefits of the card. Furthermore they wanted to give their travelers a helping hand in explaining how the card works and is to be used. For example: how to activate it, put money on it and explaining the new check-in/check-out system.
LBi took the challenge upon themselves and as a result a total of five instructional videos were created by Sander Lipmann, Nick Jonkman and myself which are to be seen on the NS website. I took responsibility of the “Activatie”, “Saldo Laden” and “Mijn NS” videos. Sander created the iconic woman, Nick was responsible for the character animation in all videos and I created the ticketmachines and check-in/check-out poles. Furthermore I took care of the rest of the animation process.
The ticketmachine interface I composited back in in After Effects as well as the end of the videos where the card disappears with the idea of a train that is passing by. The rest is all done in Cinema 4D.
